Education and specialty training
Dr. Larissa Steigmann earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Goethe University of Frankfurt in 2019. She completed a Master of Science in Periodontology at the University of Michigan and graduated in 2022 as a specialist in Periodontics and Oral Medicine.
Research and teaching
Dr. Steigmann has conducted research in oral health and implant rehabilitation, with several studies published in peer-reviewed international journals, and she reviews for leading journals in periodontology and implant dentistry. Since 2022 she has been a faculty member at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity, Division of Periodontology, where she teaches and mentors students. She also works in the Giannobile Lab on personalized medicine.
Honors
Her honors include the Jeffrey Johnston Fellowship, the LeGro Scholarship, the Billy A. Smith Award for exceptional communication and patient care, and the Dr. and Mrs. Kramer Scholar Award of Excellence from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.
