Dr. Istvan Urban
Dr. Istvan Urban received his DMD and MD degrees from Semmelweis University School of Medicine and Dentistry in Budapest, Hungary, in 1991 and 1996, respectively. He completed a full-time program in Oral Surgery at St. Istvan Hospital in Budapest from 1992 to 1996 and then pursued an internship in Periodontics at UCLA.
After graduating from the Fellowship Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University in California in 2000, Dr. Urban was appointed as an assistant professor at Loma Linda University the following year. He teaches implant dentistry in the graduate program at Loma Linda University. In 2012, Dr. Urban earned his PhD in Periodontology from the University of Szeged, Hungary, where he now serves as an honorary professor.
Dr. Urban is a board member of the Osteology Foundation and has published numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters on bone regeneration and soft tissue reconstructive surgery around dental implants. He also serves as an adjunct clinical associate professor at the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan and as a lecturer at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Urban is the author of the textbooks Vertical and Horizontal Ridge Augmentation: New Perspectives (Quintessence, 2017) and Vertical 2: The Next Level of Hard and Soft Tissue Augmentation (Quintessence, 2022). He is licensed in the state of California and maintains a private practice in Budapest, Hungary.
